Vice Principal Message

Simon Phillips, the newest member of our senior management team, came to ATIS in 2011 and has been a member of two separate departments before taking up his role as Vice Principal. Having taught Math in his first year he then moved to our Science Department and was a HS Biology teacher for 2 academic years. As well as his teaching role, Simon was also the Coordinator for Grades 9 & 10.

Before coming to ATIS Simon worked in education in the UK where he completed both his Bachelors, in Zoology with Marine Zoology, and his Masters in Environmental Biology and Ecotoxicology. After obtaining his teaching qualifications in the UK, Simon taught in both private and public schools. On top of his teaching experience he also spent 3 years in a pastoral management role.

As VP, Mr. Simon is committed to ensuring a respectful and educationally beneficial environment for the boys in MS and HS. He understands the crucial balance between his disciplinarian and pastoral roles that is needed to allow the boys to grow into young men. He is dedicated to the boys and is respected and well known amongst them.

MS/HS Vice-Principal Welcome Letter,

Dear Parents and Students,

ATIS welcomes you to the new school year. The entire ATIS community is looking forward to a great year of academic and personal growth, challenges, and accomplishments. We will accomplish this by setting high academic expectations for all children and providing support systems to assure they are met.

Our learning approach is to offer a balanced instructional program that emphasizes academic integrity while making an emotional connection with the students as they continue to develop social skills. In order to succeed, students, families and staff must work together. We are committed to supporting the whole child and invite you to join in this effort to ensure innovation, creative thinking, intellectual curiosity, academic excellence, thoughtful change, and good citizenship.

We are glad you and your student are members of the ATIS community and look forward to a wonderful year.
